Day 2 of Induction Week for the MBA Cohort of 2024-2026 at SCMHRD Pune: A Deep Dive into Academics

The second day of the induction week, for the incoming MBA cohort of 2024-2026 at SCMHRD Pune, was filled with knowledge and information. This session was marked by an enlightening presentation on the academics of the institution by our esteemed Deputy Director, Dr. K Rajagopal, MSW, M.Phil, PhD (HR), MBA, and PhD (Marketing), with extensive expertise that spans various top-grade disciplines. He provided invaluable insights into key areas such as marketing, general management, strategic management, and entrepreneurship.

Dr. Rajagopal began by shedding light on the academic schedule, emphasizing the need for students to remain alert and adaptable. He also highlighted the importance of flexibility to accommodate sessions with both internal faculty and guest lecturers, stressing that this dynamism is a cornerstone of SCMHRD's rigorous academic environment.

He delved into the academic structure and evaluation system, outlining the comprehensive course framework and the continuous evaluation methods employed at SCMHRD. Students were introduced to the blend of individual assignments, group projects, research paper writing, and experiential learning components embedded in every course. Dr. Natashaa, who oversees day to day operations, attendance, and workshops at SCMHRD, was introduced to the students. She, along with the academic coordinators for each program - Mr. Sachin, Mr. Deepak, Ms. Sujata, Ms. Archana, and Ms. Komal (Core MBA) - play a pivotal role in setting up classes, workshops and assigning timetables, thus ensuring a smooth academic journey for all students.

An essential highlight of the session was the discussion on virtual technology-enabled facilitation in teaching and learning. Students are provided with remote access to an array of advanced tools and databases such as Bloomberg, CMIE, Euromonitor, HBP Cases, EMIS, IBM SPSS 25.0, EViews, Stata, Decision Tools, SAS Academic Suite, Adobe software, Primavera, Project Portfolio Management, and Tableau. These resources are instrumental in enhancing the learning experience and equipping students with industry-relevant skills.

Dr. Rajagopal finally also addressed the impact of academics on placements, stressing the importance of academic excellence in securing coveted positions in the industry. He outlined mandatory expectations from students, reinforcing the institution's commitment to maintaining high academic standards and producing competent business leaders.
