Empowering Student Well-being: Symbicare Session at Symbiosis - A Journey Towards Health and Balance

Symbiosis is a home to more than 1000+ students. The institute and the students have responsibilities for each other. Symbicare was one of the sessions where students were guided by the various representatives from Symbiosis International University. The representatives that graced the event with their presence were Vaishali Jundre, Dr. Vijaya Sagar, Ms. Abhishree, Dr. Alaka Chandak, Dr. Girija Mahale, Dr. Kavitha Menon. Dr Vaishali commenced the event by enlightening the student with best learning opportunities they have in SCMHRD. She firmly believes in the motto of Symbiosis, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, and therefore, works towards giving students a safe, secure and motivating learning environment. She was bridging the gap between students & the University to render a holistic experience for all. Dr. Vijaya Sagar then continued to help students by explaining the various events & facilities that are conducted within the University. Symbiosis being a Health promoting University, this session highlighted the same fact. With an extensive background in both academic and administrative roles, he has made a lasting impact in the realm of healthcare and medical education. Dr. Vijay Sagars passion for teaching, commitment to excellence, and strategic vision make him an exemplary figure in the medical community. Ms. Abhishree from DSRW who was the bundle of enthusiasm brought a great energy to the session. She pressed on the fact that Physical fitness is one of the utmost important and also explained how our college will help us achieve this. She promoted the importance of health literacy. Students were also told about the various mass activities, health awareness programs , etc. Sports council Team has a crucial role to play in this and Ms. Abhishree encouraged students to be part of the selection process. Then from the remarkable team of healthcare specialists who form the core of all the people dedicated towards our health and well-being at Symbiosis was represented by Dr. Alaka Chandak, an expert in analyzing, developing and maintaining standards, health care programs and processes for services. She helped students with the information about the medical facilities provided. And also urged students to be aware of the emergency contact numbers. Next speaker Dr. Girija Mahale, Head of Symbiosis Centre for Emotional Wellbeing (SCEW). Youth Mental health is her forte. She plays an instrumental role in selecting a team of counselors for various campuses and she also introduced students to the counselors of SCMHRD who will be the go to person for the students who seek help. She also asked the students to help themselves with the Human wisdom app which the University plans to collaborate for the well being of students. She explained the process for mental health services to students. Moving on to our last speaker Dr. Kavitha Menon, an exceptional individual who has achieved remarkable milestones in the field of food science, nutrition, and dietetics. She explained the importance of proper diet and how the Symbicare app will help us to maintain a proper diet and health. She took a virtual but a very interactive session which made sure, every student will follow proper practices with respect to their diet. The overall session was a boost to all the students to maintain their well being, be it physical, or mental. .
