Shivangi Jalutharia, from 2018-20 batch, pursuing Human Resources, interned at Philips India, with the Total Rewards team. Philips India had just launched their new benefits program and her project was to manage the employee life-cycle around the same. The objectives of her project was two-fold. First, to develop and institutionalize sustainable process for the new benefits program in order to ensure smooth employee life-cycle. Second, to build the new benefits program as value proposition and communicate the same effectively.
She describes her experience to be that of a thriller movie’s protagonist, with each twist and turn of the plot giving her a new set of lessons which was the best part of the internship. The amount of learning in the two months extended from domain knowledge to understanding business, processes and compliance.
Shivangi joined MBA as a fresher after graduation in Electrical & Electronics Engineering. According to her, being a part of a committee at SCMHRD helped her in always having a plan B ready, thinking through every suggestion and coordinating with different stake holders to ensure holistic contentment and these gave her an edge over others.
She suggests the junior batch to go through all the articles in the recent past on business turmoil and frame an opinion on them. The students should be well acquainted with the emerging roles taken up by professionals in their field of specialization in contributing to the business.
