Shubham Bhardwaj from the batch of 2018-20, had an opportunity to intern with Hilti India Pvt. Ltd. He worked with the Sales and Marketing Department and was based out of Pune during the course of his internship.
His project was to identify the potential of fire fighting contractors in Pune and understand their business potential in relation to the solutions provided by Hilti. This was done by creating a database of all the firefighting contractors and computing the monetary value associated with each contractor. This also helped him to segregate the contractors as per their potential. Having done the rightful analysis of the above-mentioned objectives he had to present his data analysis to the higher management at Hilti so as to propose some ideas and recommendations which can provide better approach to target the fire fighting market.
According to Shubham, his overall experience of summer internship was very informative and stimulating as he got to learn different intricacies of the Power Equipment & Tools Market along with their unique marketing strategies. His project helped him understand the in-depth working environment of the company.
The work culture at Hilti is very accommodating as people believe in building a family rather than just working as colleagues. Workplace involvement, transparency, diversity, celebrating small milestones, absence of office politics etc. are some of the few reasons which makes the work culture of Hilti its strongest asset.
The Mentor-Mentee System was very proactive and his mentor was always ready to support him whenever needed. His mentor provided some very useful tips and suggestions as a part of his regular feedback so as to improve the efficiency of his deliverable and deduce his project into a clear problem statement. The interns were made to feel comfortable in the new working environment.
As a piece of advice to the junior batch he suggests being proactive and communicating effectively with your mentor and peers. Never jump to conclusions without having complete information about the deliverables of the project.
According to him his “Never say Never” attitude and the willingness to learn helped him bag a PPO. He also feels that good interpersonal communication skills helped him out in various situations and led him to effectively communicate his work to the superiors.
On behalf of SCMHRD. we congratulate Shubham and wish him luck for his future.
