On the 3rd day of the International Research Colloquium, students had the opportunity to witness a knowledge imparting session from 3 distinguished guests. The first session was from Mr. Vartul Mittal, who is an eminent alumnus of SCMHRD and a leading industry expert in Management Consulting and Digital Transformation with a strong global business transformation experience of around 14 years and currently working in Barclays as a Global Capability Business Leader. His talk was on the topic, “Pandemic and Research using AI and Digital Transformation”. He exemplified the necessity of the investment in digital transformation and artificial intelligence after the outbreak of the pandemic. In this unprecedented scenario of COVID 19, businesses need to find new ways to increase efficiency, drive revenue, and meet customer needs. To overcome the current situation and prepare for the next normal, organizations need to adopt the digital transformation and the Hyper-automation approach as an inevitable part of the business operations.
We also got an opportunity to interact with Dr. Bhumika Gupta from Telecom Business School, France, who spoke about how organizations can change their present and future work through digital transformation. She focused on 2021 – A New Era of Human Resource 3.0, and how Remote working will become a norm. She gave a direction by saying that the HR leaders need to be prepared to witness the transformation and make a paradigm shift to align to the new realities across the key areas of people, processes, and technology. Companies that have invested in technology earlier were better prepared to handle the crisis while others were caught off guard. She also shared that the post-pandemic workforce has emerged as more resilient and versatile and that they need to remain Agile, Flexible, and Adaptable to survive in this ever-changing scenario – where change is the only constant.
After the insightful session of Dr. Bhumika, we got an opportunity to interact with Dr. Justin Paul, who serves as Editor-in-chief of an A-ranked journal named, “International Journal of Consumer Studies”, and as an Associate Editor of another reputed journal named “Journal of Business Research”. He shared that COVID-19 has disrupted the world in the past few months. The world witnessed social distancing, shutting down of business operations, job losses, shrinking of the world economy by nearly 8%, to name a few. Huge losses incurred by the hospitality and entertainment sector, change in consumer preference, are some of the other changes witnessed by everyone. At the same time, virtual platforms like work from home models, the proliferation of online financial transactions, and application of the digital transformation tools like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in various fields have helped businesses to adapt to the new normal.
The sessions were insightful as well as enlightening for all of us and the students of SCMHRD gained a lot of insights from these informative sessions.
