Inaugural Session -Consilience in Business Practices


The conference started with a welcome speech from Mr. Sanjay Bhattacharya, Professor Human Resource, explaining the agenda of the second conference, S-Team 2021, in collaboration with EM Normandie School – Consilience of Business Practices. Dr. Pratima Sheorey, the Director of SCMHRD, Pune, took the conference forward by addressing the industry’s changing business practices and opportunities and further added how all the discussions in the talks will help improve the audience’s learning curve. Dr. Rajni Gupte,  Vice-Chancellor of the SIU, introduced the conference’s topic and further explained the significance of the term Consilience, which involved amalgamating various Business approaches. She invited the esteemed guest Sylvaine Castellano, Professor of Strategy, Dean of Research, EM Normandie Business School, to deliver her valuable insights on the Consilience in Business Practices conference theme. She started her talk with the initiative taken by EM Normandie during the pandemic, highlighting the condition of Italy and its coping strategies along with the ‘Risks and Resilience Journal’ to address significant risks related to Covid-19. With an emphasis on the new normal of remote working, she explained how the traditional teaching practices had observed a paradigm shift towards online teaching practices. She also explained how social distancing has become ‘Special Distancing’ between people and ended the talk with the importance of collaboration.

Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Pro-Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) & Principal Director, Symbiosis, spoke about teaching techniques adapting to the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to support, enhance, and optimize the delivery of information as a way to upgrade to the new norm. Furthermore, she explained how ‘Consilience and Resilience’ have brought us together and how internationalization of higher education is now conceivable. With Symbiosis International University, following the ideology of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, she explained how the students are ready to face the world with Consilience after graduating from the University. Dr. Netra Neelam, Deputy Director, SCMHRD, later mentioned that speakers from 5 continents and more than six countries would discuss more than 400 articles and share their diverse experiences. After that, she also talked about how Dr. Pratima Sheorey has always been enthusiastic about making SIU and SCMHRD visible at a significant level by conducting various unique and different activities. The conference ended with a thanking note from Dr. Netra Neelam, addressing all the Keynote speakers of the inaugural session.
