HR E-Conclave: Where tomorrow’s HR leaders are made

The second edition of the HR E-Conclave was held on 5th,6th, and 7th August, 2021. These three days saw a bevy of HR leaders speak on prominent issues of the HR world. There were five insightful panel discussions conducted over the three days. The sessions were moderated by SCMHRD’s very own faculty. These sessions brought in the much-needed corporate exposure to the students of SCMHRD.

The conclave kicked off on 5th august with the topic of discussion being “Reinventing employee expereience in the new normal.” The industry stalwarts who contributed to the discussions were Mahafrid Billimoria, General manager and Head-TAS at Tata Group HR, Prashant P, Employee experience lead at Cargill, Tania Chatterjee, Director- Colleague Proposition, Inclusion, Wellbeing & Culture Lead at NatWest Group, Ruchira Garg, Senior Director- HR Services at VMware, Kunal Chandra, Director- Total Rewards at Flipkart. The session was moderated by Vinita Sinha, Professor & HOD, HR SCMHRD. The talk revolved around how employee emotional well-being has become a “must-have” factor rather than a “good-to-have” factor.

The evening-half saw the students gaining insights on the topic “Holistic approach for creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce”. The industry leaders who graced the occasion were Aji George, Head- Organization Capability at Wipro, Parmesh Shahani, VP Head- D&I +, Godrej India Culture Lab at Godrej: Dheeraj Goyal, Group corporate HR Manager at ITC, Divya Seth-Gopal, Head HR-Talent acquisition and New Business at Marico and was moderated by Dr. Pratima Sheorey, Director, SCMHRD Pune. The discussion steered around the evolution of D&I as an essential HR vertical, the importance of having a diverse and inclusive workplace, and how these organizations go about doing that.

The second day was a star-studded affair with a host of HR professionals from prominent organizations giving their two cents on the theme- “Data becomes the new currency: acing people analytics.” The panelists were Rishu Garg, CHRO at Rivigo, Anurag Shrivastava, Head of Total Rewards & HR Technology Transformation at, Balasubramanian Iyer, Head- Talent, Organization Development and HRBP Corporate Functions at Nivea, Apeksha Ahluwalia, Strategic Projects & HRBP Corporate Function Lead at Udaan, Vaishali Sabhahit, University Programs, Talent Operations, & Employer Branding Head at Adobe and Arpit Jain, HR Head at Airtel DTH, the moderator of the session. The session was an eye-opener for all the changes the budding field of HR Analytics brings about in making organizational processes efficient. They quoted some instances from the companies they hailed from which helped the future HR practitioners understand the opportunities and challenges the field of People analytics held.

The second half of the day saw two different panels discussing the topic “Ingredients of futuristic leadership: lessons from the past, preparedness for today, tomorrow, and the future.” Among the industry leaders who graced the panel were Chinmay Sharma, CHRO at GSK Pharma, Puneet Rajput, Senior HR Director at Thermo Fisher Scientific, Vivek Jain, Sr. Executive VP & Head HR at Kotak Mahindra Bank, Sanjay Shaw, HR Head- South Asia at Givaudan, and Ramesh Kumar, Head HR at Wells Fargo.

In the second panel for the topic, there were Sulaksha Shetty, CHRO at Everest Industries, Ranjith TP, Director, Recruitment – APAC at Volvo, Tejas Gokhale, Head of HR, India at Vois, Ananthalakshmi Raghavan, Sr.Site HR Business Partner at Paypal and the panel discussion was moderated by Dr.Netra Neelam, Professor & Deputy Director, SCMHRD. These were much-needed talks, especially in strange times like these, when all organizations are adapting to the new normal. The leaders spoke about how the pandemic has brought about a more resilient and humane touch to the companies and their strategies.

On the closing day of the HR E-conclave, the topic discussed was “The future of HR: Promoting a culture of growth mindset.” Sumit Singh, HR Head – Lava International, Anil Misra, CHRO at Magicbricks, Manjula Rao, Vice President and Head HR at, Amit Patil, HR Director, PSBU at Cummins, moderated by Hitesh Khurana, Head – Talent Acquisition & Talent Management at Casio. During this enriching session, the leaders discussed HR’s possibilities as a changemaker and how they could aid a burgeoning culture of zeal and perseverance in their workplaces.

All discussions ended with a dedicated Q&A session. The three days proved to be a one-of-a-kind exposure to the students and made them understand the nuances of the HR world. The event ended on a successful note with high hopes for future editions.
