The three institutes on campus — Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology (SCIT), Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD) and Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB) — celebrated Ganeshotsav together. This year, we decided to theme our decor around the rich history of the Maratha rule.
Besides an eco-friendly Ganesh idol making workshop by SCIT’s ISR committee, team Eklavya, SCIT’s theatre group, performed a play highlighting prevalent social issues. The cultural committee also organised games for the students. The next day, we performed a maha aarti, which was followed by a special Maharashtrian maha prasad and lunch. The menu comprised traditional fare including modaks and puranpoli. The same evening, SCIT’s dance group, Symbeats, performed a prayer to Ganesha. The night wasn’t complete without a vibrant dhol tasha performance. The juniors and seniors from all three institution danced together to the dhol. The spirit of public participation that the festival stands for is something we hope to continue enjoying on campus in the years to come.
