The three Symbiosis institutes- SCMHRD, SCIT, and SIIB- celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi together this year after experiencing it virtually for two years during the pandemic. The SIC Campus, Hinjewadi, was filled with fervour and excitement for Ganesh Mahotsav 2022. Drumbeats, sweet distributions, and authentic food contributed to a lively and vivid atmosphere on the campus laden with festivities.
The festivities began with an idol-making workshop organized in the leading academic block wherein students used clay to carve out their versions of the idol of Lord Ganesha. Creativity knew no bounds, and the idol’s different structures and shapes represented the deity in its truly pure form. The celebrations continued with the Ganpati idol ‘Sthapna’ in the academic block, wherein different idols were adorned and placed. This was followed by aarti and prasad distribution among the students and staff, savoured as everyone reminisced about Ganpati in person after a monotonous pandemic. In the evening, there was the most-awaited traditional ‘Dhol Tasha’ performance by a professional group in front of the academic block.
The students enjoyed dancing and destressing from their busy academic schedules. Students sang Bollywood songs that carry Lord Vinayaka’s essence to add to the merriment. In conjunction with the festival, SCMHRD’s Cultural Committee students performed ‘Ganesh Vandana’ songs. The day ended with a short DJ dance bonanza at night wherein students gathered and enjoyed in tandem to conclude the day full of festivities and fervour. Togetherness and conviviality filled the air, and SCMHRD hopes to continue to maintain this energy and enthusiasm in the upcoming festivals of the year.
