The Analytics Club, SCMHRD hosted the 3rd Edition of Colloquium from 5th to 7th November 2020. The annual panel discussion event comprised of 22 industry stalwarts across 4 panels and was based on the theme ‘Analytics – The road ahead’.
Colloquium 2020 started with an insightful discussion on “How Analytics is shaping the future of doing business”. The esteemed panel consisted of leaders in the field of Analytics from Purplle.com, PwC, Accenture, Evalueserve, Blowhorn and Blazeclan. They emphasized on the fact that cutting-edge technologies like cloud computing, big data & IoT are going to shape the future of business.
On the 2nd day of Colloquium 2020, industry stalwarts from global brands like EY, S&P Global, IHS Markit, Accenture Security, Diageo & NU Sigma graced the event as the panellists. They apprised the audience of the threats to privacy as data is being extracted from all possible sources. They shared some real-life use cases and incidents highlighting the extent to which data privacy is being compromised and the widespread lack of information about data usage. They suggested introducing Data Security & Privacy in academics in order to spread awareness amongst the youth.
In the penultimate session, the esteemed guests from leading healthcare brands like Phillips, Novartis, Fortis Healthcare & Cipla took the audience on a journey to the rapidly transforming Healthcare landscape through an Analytics lens. They highlighted the transformation of Analytics in Healthcare, starting with basic tools like Excel & SAS to more advanced ones like R & Python. Further, they stressed on the fact that analytics can be pivotal in vaccine development and can drastically reduce the costs associated with it.
For the final session of Colloquium 2020, dignitaries from Northern Trust Corporation, DBS Bank, Concentrix, Sony Research India & Housing.com were the panellists. The panellists shared their valuable insights on how to build a career in data science explaining key areas the students should focus on. They also explained the criticality of domain knowledge in the development of data science citing real life examples from their industries.
Students also got an opportunity to interact with the panellists and get all their pertinent questions answered. Overall, Colloquium 2020 was a series of enlightening, thought-provoking & insightful sessions that equipped students with the right wisdom which will help them in their future endeavours.
