The Samatva Committee at SCMHRD is thrilled to announce the upcoming Mental Health Week (MHW), a week-long initiative dedicated to promoting mental well-being and fostering a supportive campus environment. In a world that often overlooks mental health, this week aims to provide our students and the Inspirit kids with opportunities to focus on mindfulness, emotional expression, and self-care.
Day 1: Reflection and Expression
Kickstarting the week on October 3rd, we'll encourage reflection and self-expression through various activities. Gratitude cards will be distributed to all students, inviting them to pause and acknowledge the things or people they are thankful for. Additionally, a confession box will be set up to provide a safe space for anonymous sharing of thoughts and emotions. To further nurture creativity, doodling boards will be placed across campus, allowing individuals to express themselves through art.
Day 2: Mindfulness and Physical Well-being
On the second day, we'll shift our focus to mindfulness and physical well-being. A Yoga and Pranayama session will be organized for the Inspirit kids, introducing them to basic yoga poses and controlled breathing techniques. These practices can help improve focus, manage stress, and cultivate inner calm.
Day 3: Movie Screening and Reflection
The third day will feature a movie screening for the Inspirit kids. The chosen film will explore themes of resilience, emotional well-being, and personal growth. Watching a movie together can be a relaxing and reflective experience, while also opening up conversations around mental health.
Day 4: Zumba and Dance
We'll end the week on a high-energy note with a Zumba and Dance session for the Inspirit kids. Dance is a fun and powerful way to release stress, boost mood, and foster social connection. The session will be filled with lively music and movement, helping the children express themselves freely and enjoy the mental and physical benefits of exercise.
Through Mental Health Week, we aim to create an environment of openness, mindfulness, and emotional well-being. We hope that both students and the Inspirit kids will find these activities meaningful and walk away with a greater understanding of the importance of mental health in their lives.
