Symbiosis International (Deemed) University successfully conducted its Common Induction Ceremony for the batch of 2021 on 5th July. The ceremony was held virtually and saw an overwhelming presence of students who joined different Post Graduate Programmes across different campuses of the university this year.

Amidst the ongoing pandemic and the fear about 3rd wave hitting the country, against all odds, Symbiosis International (Deemed) University adapted to online induction as it geared up with a cutting-edge IT infrastructure enabling a seamless induction through an online platform.

The Common induction ceremony began with the address by Dr Pratima Sheorey, Director, SCMHRD. She welcomed the incoming batch and emphasised how hope has kept the world afloat as the shrapnel of pandemic wreaked and continues to wreak havoc.

Dr Rajni Gupte, Vice Chancellor, SIU, addressed the students next and briefly spoke about the vision and mission of SIU.

Dr Vidya Yervadekar, Pro Chancellor, SIU & Principal Director, Symbiosis informed the students about the implementation of National Education Policy, 2020 across all the campuses of SIU from this year onwards. she also highlighted how NEP will ensure a transformative progressive education system for the wholesome development of students.

The final address came from the Man Behind It All, the Chancellor himself, Prof. (Dr.) S.B. Mujumdar, Founder & President, Symbiosis who graced the ceremony with his charismatic presence and a thought-provoking address. He began by invocation of Vighnaharta and talked about how the pandemic has taught us the concepts of Simplicity, Uncertainty, Spirituality and Togetherness. In his humble yet emphatic voice, he reiterated how SIU embodies the concept of togetherness through its motto ” वसुधैव कुटुंबकम्” which translates to mean “The world is one family”.

Dr Pratima then concluded the ceremony with a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries, speakers and students. She wished immense success to the incoming batch and hoped to see them on campus soon as and when the guidelines allow.

Students were afterwards directed to join a session by Team Symbicare, a team constituted to offer services and programmes that promote health and wellness, quality of student life for the holistic development of its students. The team familiarized students with the values that the university stands for.

Overall the ceremony went on smoothly and helped the students identify themselves as members of the one big Symbiosis Family.
