INDUCTION DIARIES | DAY 4 More Than an MBA, the Beginning of Transformation

After a pause in the induction schedule over Sunday, Day 4 at SCMHRD felt different. The earlier sessions had introduced us to themes of sustainability, governance, and innovation. However, Dheeksharambh 2026 shifted the conversation inward-focusing not on what we will study over the next two years, but on who we could become through the experience. The day was less about orientation and more about perspective, serving as an invitation to view this MBA journey as a true period of personal transformation.

Building, Not Waiting

The first address of the day by Dr. Akhil Dhamodharan, Director, SCMHRD, immediately set a proactive tone. The core takeaway was clear: the next two years can transform your life, but that transformation does not happen automatically.

We were encouraged to see our time at SCMHRD not as a passive checklist of classes, placements, and grades, but as an opportunity to actively build capability, perspective, and impact. In a world increasingly shaped by Artificial Intelligence and rapid technological shifts, the focus was entirely on learning how to evolve alongside change rather than competing against it.

Dr. Dhamodharan introduced two intentional frameworks to guide our mindset and execution:

• Strategic Growth: Learn ? Identify ? Build ? Impact (Learn deeply, identify opportunities, build solutions, and create impact).
• Agile Execution: Build ? Test ? Ship ? Track (A reminder that ideas alone are never enough; progress belongs to those who act).

Don't Become Your Own Limitation

The second address by Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Pro Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), shifted the discussion from strategic action to human possibility. Her message centered around a powerful principle: "Don't limit yourself." Rather than simple motivation, this was presented as a personal responsibility.

Reflecting on SCMHRD's evolution, she highlighted how institutional excellence is built over years through sustained vision, continuous improvement, and a willingness to evolve. She challenged us to confront our self-imposed limits and stop avoiding opportunities out of a premature assumption that we aren't ready.

Her address reminded us that the MBA experience extends far beyond academics. It is a vibrant phase to explore new ideas, engage with global realities, learn from diverse perspectives, and prioritize personal well-being as equally vital dimensions of long-term growth.

The Skills That Differentiate Leaders

The final address by Dr. Ramakrishnan Raman, Vice Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), connected these ideas into a blueprint for future-ready leadership. He emphasized that success in contemporary business environments is rarely limited by technical knowledge alone. Instead, it is shaped by core human capabilities that distinguish impactful leaders:

• Communication and empathy
• Conflict resolution and negotiation
• Relationship building and mutual trust
• Critical thinking and ethical judgment
• Adaptability and change leadership

Dr. Raman directly addressed the common hesitations that hold individuals back-the fear of judgment, making mistakes, or stepping forward. His reminder was clear: opportunities are often lost not from a lack of capability, but from a hesitation to act. He closed the session by invoking the philosophy of Nishkama Karma, urging us to commit fully to disciplined effort without becoming consumed by immediate outcomes, focusing instead on consistent growth.

The Takeaway: A New Definition of Success

Walking out at the end of Day 4, I realized Dheeksharambh was never meant to simply welcome us to a campus; it was designed to challenge how we think. The sessions did not hand us a rigid definition of success, but encouraged us to become individuals who stay curious, act with purpose, and adapt continuously.

If Day 1 expanded how I look at management, Day 4 expanded how I think about personal growth. The real beginning of an MBA is not just about learning more-it is about becoming more.
