On 8th August 2025, the Analytics Club at SCMHRD conducted Day 3 of AIspire 2025 on the topic "AI Coming Faster Than Envisaged." The session was delivered by Mr. Gajendra Singh, Senior Advisory Consultant, IBM, who shared valuable insights on the rapid progress of AI, its ethical implications, and its role in driving data-driven decision-making.

Mr. Singh began the session by highlighting IBM's legacy of innovation-from the earliest commercial scientific computers to cutting-edge AI-powered solutions-underscoring the company's leadership in shaping the future of technology. He emphasized IBM's guiding principle that AI must be explainable, fair, and accountable to create meaningful impact.

Introduction to IBM's AI Tools

The students were introduced to IBM's suite of AI tools, including Cognos Analytics, SPSS, and Watson Analytics, showcasing how these platforms support data visualization, predictive modeling, and business intelligence. The speaker also discussed the importance of contextualizing AI solutions, ensuring compliance, and adopting a governance-driven approach for effective implementation.

Practical Group Exercise

A practical group exercise was conducted where participants were asked to approach a real-world challenge: planning a tunnel project for the Himachal Pradesh government. Students evaluated factors such as geology, traffic, environmental impact, safety, regulatory approvals, and costs-demonstrating how analytics and AI can guide complex infrastructure decisions.
