#7: PPO Chronicles- Abhilash Chandanshiv, Tata Consumer Products Limited

Abhilash Chandanshiv, a 2020-2022 batch student is currently pursuing his MBA from SCMHRD in marketing. He shares his story of how he bagged a PPO in Tata Consumer Product Limited even in challenging times of the pandemic.

A chemical engineer from BITS Pilani, Abhilash, has work experience of 3 years in the R&D department. Abhilash joined TCPL as an intern where his project was to develop a new sales and distribution model for the company.

He focuses on the importance of staying in constant touch with his mentor.

His biggest challenge during the internship has been to connect with people, as his project required him to interact with a lot of people and the pandemic made communication only difficult. However, to overcome these, Abhilash started taking more initiatives and connecting with people outside work to break the ice.

When asked about his learnings from the internship he says it is important to be flexible, agile, and adaptive throughout the internship. He emphasizes how important it is to be disciplined and punctual during an internship especially in an online mode as it is very easy to lose track of time while working in an online setup. Abhilash emphasizes the importance of following a schedule and adhering to the deadlines set up during the internship. He says that the interns who tend to pursue things at their own pace later find it difficult to stick to the internship deadlines and that may reduce the chances of a PPO.

An intern’s performance during the internship combined with other major factors like the prevailing work culture in the company too plays a significant role in getting a PPO.

Creativity and an innovative problem-solving approach are one of the key elements for bagging a PPO especially when it comes to firms like TCPL.
